CHURCH AT THE PULPIT ROCK

“Mountains, they are the great cathedrals of the earth, with their portals of rock, the mosaics of clouds, the choirs of  torrents, and the altars of snow, sometimes with purple sparkling stars.“

/John Ruskin

From this grew the idea of a cathedral on a cathedral of earth, creating an object that is a natural part of the mountain, spontaneously inspired by it, and finally an extension of it.

The rock’s altitude 604 meters above sea level is now to be considered 617 meters. From the top of the mountain rock the building grows 13 m and therefore creates a new peak, a new top which desires both to be reached and to offer a new point of view to the users.

A church that is a stair, a stair that is a journey.
